A Strange and Wild Place by Sandra Macpherson is set in the Glentruim estate

Accommodation Overview

Nestled between Newtonmore and Laggan in the Cairngorms National Park, Glentruim Castle and Cottages offers visitors a beautifully secluded and comfortable retreat, while being on the doorstep of some of the highlands’ most breathtaking scenery and outdoor pursuits.
The castle’s interior is traditional, nodding to its heritage while offering every modern comfort.  It sleeps up to 15 guests in eight blissfully relaxing bedrooms, with the living areas encompassing a kitchen, dining room, drawing room, smoking room, library, orangery, home-cinema, beauty spa, sauna and gym, all finished to the very finest standards.
Tucked away in the grounds of the castle are three idyllic cottages: Coach House, Gate Lodge and Laundry Cottage. Each sleeps either 2 or 4 guests and can be let independently, or in tandem with the castle for group stays.
The Glentruim estate in total comprises 53 acres of enchanting woodland, and unparalleled views of the surrounding Spey Valley and Monadhliath and Cairngorm mountains.  Against this rugged backdrop, the castle and cottages are set upon lawned gardens and grounds that have long been acknowledged as some of the most beautiful in the central Highlands.

“We would like to thank you both for all you did for us last weekend - the whole weekend turned out to be an extremely memorable one.”
