The Open Championship returns to Royal Troon in July 2016 which will be the 145th Open Championship. Once again the worlds' greatest golfers will gather to do battle for the famous Claret Jug on the West Coast of Scotland over one of the country's finest links courses. The first World Artistic Gymnastics Championships took place in Antwerp in 1903. Now, over 100 years later, we take great pleasure in welcoming the 46th World Gymnastics Championships to Glasgow and we can’t wait to welcome the world.
Witness 10 days of thrilling competition as gymnasts compete for prestigious World titles to secure their place amongst the legends of the sport. As a qualification event for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, every gymnast will aim to be at their very best in Glasgow.
The competition schedule will comprise 4 days of qualification events followed by 6 days of finals where gymnasts will compete in team, all around and individual apparatus events.
A little closer to home, in the Scottish Highlands and Cairngorms, the World Orienteering Champions are being held over 8 days between 1 and 7 August 2015. This fabulous sporting event takes place over a 20 radius of the highlands with Nairn and Forres being used to stage a number of different events.
FOUR! Well, actually, The Ryder Cup is played over 6 days when Perthshire and Gleneagles welcome Golfers from Europe and the USA. Last time out in 2012, the Ryder Cup was won by Team Europe after an amazing comeback, snatching the win by just 1 single point.
